Environmental Accounting Company

Their existing system, built with DBT and SQL, was causing inefficiencies, slowdowns, and errors in model execution, which affected the workflow of analysts and disrupted product development. To address this, we proposed a new technology stack including a Haskell domain-specific language (DSL) for model creation, CSV-based data storage in AWS S3, and a Rust-based command line tool for data management.

The client, an SME accounting consultancy, was transitioning from a consulting firm to a SaaS product company to better scale its proprietary environmental accounting methodology.

Alongside this, we aligned stakeholders by improving communication between executives, analysts, and product teams, helping everyone understand the impact of their workflows on others. The new system allowed analysts to quickly debug models, reduced project timelines from over a month to under two weeks, and significantly improved team morale.
