African Pelagic is an independent practice focused on the diagnosis and redesign of complex socio-technical systems.

These systems cannot be cleanly reduced to their components: ownership, process, technology. Significant behaviour emerges from the configuration of, and interaction between, parts.

As a result, issues are rarely isolated. They propagate through coordination structures, accumulate at system boundaries, and reflect the organisation of the system as a whole.

Our engagements focus on making these structures and dynamics visible, defining targeted points of intervention, and restoring control over how systems change and evolve.
